Sleeping with or without background noise?

I definitely prefer silence when I sleep, but I don't mind a little noise. I sleep pretty fast and heavily.

I always fall asleep with my earbuds in listening to music. Any kind of music too, metal, punk, jazz, garage rock, you name it. I'll always start off an album and by the third or fourth song I'm out. I like to think the rest of the album helps fuel my dreams haha

Gotta have it dark though. I have my windows blacked out Problematic Honda CRV Models, no LEDs or passive lights anywhere in the bedroom.

Some background noise is a must for me, because I overthink when left with complete silence and my own thoughts.

It has to be something calm though, like a documentary on Space, physics or Ancient History, because I am a light sleeper and otherwise I get woken up by something like loud screams, explosions, shooting and the generally increased volume on such actions scenes.

If I am at home where it is quiet and dark ( blinds and curtains closed ) I don't use any noise but if I am anywhere that I can't have quiet darkness I will require either music or waves/rain/stream nature sounds
