I wanted to show you a little project I've been working on.
I'm running an EmuCoach MoP 5.4.8 server, and at some point I felt like the server was missing a proper website. So I started building my own.
It actually became quite a bit bigger than I originally planned.
The basic idea was pretty simple:
I wanted more than just a normal server website. I wanted to be able to see as much information from my server as possible directly on the website.
For example, I can search for characters and view their information and equipment.
For items, the website takes the item ID from the database and gets the actual item name from the World database. When you click on an item, it takes you directly to the corresponding item page online.
Another thing I wanted to have was better control over the PlayerBots.
Since I'm using quite a lot of bots on my server, I didn't want to open worldserver.conf every time I wanted to change the bot settings.
So I added a separate settings page to the website.
I can change things like:
PlayerBots.PlayerbotAmount
AiPlayerbot.MinRandomBots
AiPlayerbot.MaxRandomBots
RandomBotMinLevel
RandomBotMaxLevel
The values are written directly to my worldserver.conf, and the previous configuration is backed up automatically before making changes.
I also added the ability to change the XP rates directly from the website.
For the design, I tried to make it feel like Mists of Pandaria / WoW rather than just making another standard PHP website. I wanted it to actually feel like it belongs to a WoW server when you open it.
At the moment it includes things like:
It's still a work in progress and there are definitely a lot of things I want to improve and add.
I just wanted to share it here already. Maybe someone else is working on something similar, or maybe you have some ideas for things that would be useful to add.
Especially when it comes to connecting the website more closely with the EmuCoach server, I think there are still quite a few interesting things that could be done.
