Bot Pathfinding and Encounter Logic Issues in 7.1

The bot tactics in 7.1 still haven’t really improved. My screenshot shows the first boss in Temple of the Jade Serpent. As soon as combat starts, the bots get stuck below the platform instead of properly engaging the encounter. That’s just one example, but overall it feels like the behavior used to be much better in the older versions.

Bots often no longer seem to understand what they are supposed to do, especially when encounters involve elevation changes or platforms. They struggle to navigate to higher areas or reposition correctly during boss fights.

The same issue happens in Mogu’shan Vaults at the Proto-Dragon encounter. About half of the bots stop attacking entirely because they refuse or fail to move onto the floating platform.

This definitely needs another pass on pathfinding and encounter logic. Right now many dungeon and raid mechanics involving platforms, height differences, or movement transitions are causing bots to break or become inactive.

I’m not saying the bots should be able to handle everything, but by now even basic dungeons should already be working properly.

As a small follow-up: the bots also seem to have forgotten almost all raid tactics at this point. What exactly happened there?

From version to version, things were improving steadily and bots were gradually gaining support for more and more boss mechanics. But now even the basic raid behavior is failing in many encounters. This definitely needs another review.

LFR raiding with bots should be one of the core features of the project, which is why the current state is really confusing. Right now many encounters feel less functional than they did in previous versions.

nothing to do with this issue, but I have to say it:

please finally add default Auction House items to the database.

Ever since the AH bot was introduced, people have been waiting for this. I honestly don’t understand why it is still considered difficult to ship the database with at least a basic pool of predefined auction items by default. Not everyone wants to manually populate the Auction House themselves.

You can’t really argue that making the single-player world feel alive is not a priority, otherwise there wouldn’t already be bots with waypoints spread all across the world. A functional and populated Auction House is part of that immersion as well.

SPP already handles this much better with its Auction House setup. Please finally consider adding default items so the economy feels active out of the box instead of requiring manual database work from every user.

This is only meant as constructive feedback and a general point for discussion, not as an attack on the project or an attempt to downplay the work that has already been done. Some issues just need to be brought up repeatedly because they have a major impact on the overall experience.

I think everyone here shares the same interest: making this project as polished and feature-complete as possible. Especially with the current progress in AI and automation, there is probably still a lot of potential for future improvements.
