What's new

Warlords of Draenor 6.2.3&6.2.4 , Legion 7.3.5 , Battle for Azeroth 8.3.7, Shadowlands 9.2.7, Dragonflight 10.2.7, The War Within 11.2.5

I am using RetailCore for Dragonflight and apart from a few expected quirks it runs fine. No bots of course so follower dungeons don't work but maybe there is a workaround for that?
It has no playerbots or npcbots, however I've seen in some dungeons and raids they have added helper npcs but it could be in the tww update. Sadly I don't think the creators keep the old versions for df so i backed it up. Draconic wow is pretty much the same source https://discord.gg/xKchJ6pad
You can check out with the creators and ask about this "helper bots" in the instances. Captain core and sicalicous are the creators

I did not accuse you of lying, nor did I make ANY mention of anything you posted having viruses.

You posted two versions of SPP, v1 and v2. The v2 that I am aware of is a supposed "high quality" one posted in another thread (which now has a broken link to download). The one you posted in an extremely large wall of text with little to no way to distinguish between them, may or may not be that one, but either way, is just as bad as the rest of them, which lead me to believe it is not the high quality one posted elsewhere. A file being called sppv2 doesn't make it the same as a potential other filename called sppv2.

Using the thread that contains the repacks that do not work, to inform people which ones do not work, is exactly the thing to do so others don't waste hours or days downloading a legion repack that doesn't end up working anyway.
Well this is how I interpred the no safe part. By no safe I undestand infected with a virus. The worst that happened to me is a heavy ram usage maybe memory leak and it creates a huge page file and will have to replace the ssd later down the line.

It could be very hard indeed to distingusih between them as basically every worldserver console is a wall of text. Excluding the sppv1 all the others are based on the same source-legion core aka uwow leak. Basically this saying applies "same, but different, but still same".

To avoid confusion I packed sppv2 with thorignir, another download is an installer .exe which is old repack and there's also a link to a folder that contains other .exes and dbs. Since they are pretty much the same they could use the same map files,. Here I will say again the sppv2 that i packed with thorignir is outdated and old

As I mentioned in the reply above sppv2 has a signature a giant text reading Praevous core in bnetserver console and worldserver console. You need the source code to edit bnetserver.exe and worldserver.exe and sppv2 is closed source although probably someone who wants a quick buck can imitate this text in his own repack and is not advisable to buy any sources or repacks from discord links or private users as most likely they are stolen from open sources and dbs. Sppv2 is completely free.

If you want to be sure it's the real one best to check their discord. There they also release updates in batch scripts. Somewhere in this discord should be a list of working content and the changelogs. Ask around there

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...UQFnoECCgQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1dy_jHbsOpfhM7MXtzGszw
Hope you find what you seek in this discord. In case anyone doesn't know the origin of the sppv2 repack here it is as it's quite a large discord server and is also the source of the mangos spp with bots

I am just hoping (to find one) that Legion is "playable" ~ doesn't have to be "perfect" ~ I just want "playable"!!!
RetailCore and DraconicWow Dragongflight are both playable but you do sometimes hit a brick wall with quest progression as some quests simply do not complete and if it is chain it can be an issue but, as you can manipulate the databases you could, theoretically complete quest via SQL.

Other thing is that dragon riding doesn't work. It would have been nice to see that working given that it was one of the main selling points of the Dragonflight expansion but, it is what it is and you can still fly so not really a deal breaker. The only other thing that I would really have liked to see is the Druid flight forms and other forms active but they seem to be permanently locked even if you try to work around it with SQL.

That being said, creating a repack with everything working like retail is an incredibly complex thing and unless you have a team of developers working on these things it is always going to be a bit hit and miss.

Draconic has helper NPC's in follower dungeons although the last one I entered had all tanks. So probably needs a few tweeks. Draconic also has AI running in chat so I guess it seems busy even if the world itself doesn't have bots running around.

Going to see if I can get The War Within up and running now.

I don't expect any of these things to be perfect. For me it just a bit of fun.

Just to clarify ~ I have actually never played WoW so I have next to no clue most of the things you speak of... I was told by an avid WoW following friend (who has been playing since the beginning) that "the best two x-pacs would be WOTLK and LEGION... From what I have seen the WOTLK is a pretty solid / functional emu at this point, guessing due to it's age; from what I hear/read it's about as close to 100% as you'll get out of ANY version (expansion)... Or I am also guessing anything older ("classic" or TBC) would/should also be "complete" by this point in time!

So I have already been able to add WOTLK to my archives (I am also an archiver) ~ what I believe is a "raw virgin" client; and a couple "99%" emulators (with and without bots).. So, now I seek something "decent" for LEGION (specifically)... I have what I believe to be a "raw virgin" LEGION 735_26972 client, and also EXEs from 26124, 26365, and 26972! I have grabbed the release EXO posted (from uwow) that seems to REQUIRE the 26124 client, and I have downloaded the "2 pack" from this thread with SPPV2 (Thorignir) and Legion Core as well.

I will likely never play "official" since there's a monthly sub, but I am more than open to playing on either a P server or "with friends" on an emulator of our own! Plus of course I'm adding everything to my archive drives... For posterity

So I guess that's why, at least to me, at least right now, I say, "it doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be playable" ;)

But/also ~ if "y'all" have any other/better recommendations as to a specific repack for LEGION, please do, let me know :)

Thanks!

Hello. Yes it's true. Wotlk and legion are the most liked alongside mop. You can disregard this if you want. consider it a friendly advice or suggestion. Since you are new to the game it's better to play on a private server with real people and learn the game. Also private servers have bugs like the repacks since they are based of the public sources

You can also play a repack with bots. Wotlk azeroth core with bots it's the best and most scripted in the world. The bots pretty much replace real people.

Spp classics has the first 3 expansions vanilla/tbc/wotlk with bots and the scripts are good better than mop and legion
And it's also made by the same people who made spp2 for legion

You can also try/buy the mop premium from the admin it also has bots and is a good mop repack. Its probably cheaper for a year than retail(blizzard) for month or playing official for year. (Not sure there's a section for it better go there) Your decision I advise you to make it when you learn more about the game. Spp2-legion, azeroth core for wotlk, mangos-vanilla/tbc/wotlk are free.

As for legion there is no better than spp2 and in the config files inside the folder. Bnetserver.conf amd worldserver.conf you can swap the builds. Need to check that before running. 26365 and 26972 both are supported. If a client/server build mistmatch happens you can't play. The setting is among the first somewhere at the top of the config don't remember the name.
Spp2 is based on legion core which is a leak from uwow and I think pretty they all have this setting.
Don't recommend spp1 and anything called ashamane core etc. its older and buggier and there you can only play on 26972 build no setting to change that

The repacks especially beyond wotlk at times they will break immersion and you will need gm commands (cheats) to progress further, also a friendly advice better to learn first to play without cheats(gm commands). But as understood you are fine with that.
You probably have googled a list of gm commands and worldserver console commands. Most work on spp2, mangos, azeroth core, trinity core. I.e on all expansions which includes wotlk and legion.

Another think i would like to intruduce to you is there are two types of bots
Playerbots and npcbots. Mangos, azeroth core and mop vip use the first type. They are like meeting random people. Trinity core has npcbots. You use gm commands to search and add bots. You can add the one you need. You can change them and give them items to match your needs. Playerboots are more frendly for begginers. Npcbots are better for pve content.
There also exists an azeroth core with npcbots. Depends on what the specific repack has.
some repacks have solocraft. For example you can do pve content which requires group of people alone by yourself. Not sure but I think spp2 has it or probably you will need to enable it in a setting in the worldserver.conf. better ask the official discord as I don't remember.

Hope that helps
Welcome to the game
Hope you have a wonderful game and enjoy your time in azeroth
Cheers mate best wishes to you

Thank you very much for this write-up! I appreciate it a lot!

I must say, while I am "brand new" to WoW; I am not brand new to MMO's (or MMORPG's)... I have experience with the game Perfect World (for that game the official server files were leaked, for several versions: all the way from the game's conception (beta) all the way up to 1.5.5)! So I am not foreign to the concept of running servers (or in this case, emulators) but yes I am brand new to WoW.

Long story short, my GF (once upon a time) was talking about going back to WoW (official - she had played it before we met) and I was against the subscription aspect of it (and I had always been a single player gamer up until that point). I sought a "free alternative" and found "Perfect World". We (and all our friends) played that for many many years before getting fed up with it's "free to play, pay to win" ways! I got pretty deeply involved with the "private server community" for that game once I learned that the games official server files had been leaked (and that it was indeed not an emulator). That was quite fun. My personal favorite version of that game was either 1.3.1 (basically "beta") or 1.4.5, but the official server files have been "leaked" up until v1.5.5! (anything beyond 1.5.5 is an emulator or modified source code and recompiled since the source code was also leaked)! The only thing that may be "confusing" about that game and it's leaked server files is all the different versions (China, Malaysia, US, [all the different regions that were available])!

Fast forward to today and I figured maybe I should not only archive some WoW stuff, but maybe actually give it a try (playing it)..! I figured I would definitely download to archive and try the TWO most popular versions (wotlk and legion)! I will probably "avoid" MOP to be completely honest...

Basically, I guess the main point(s) of my post are (TLDR): To: thank you for that write-up. And to make sure it's known that I am not foreign to running servers (all their configurations/files, mysql/databases, networking/port forwarding etc, and everything that it entails) ..! I do know that (in true archiver nature) I do archive even things I don't personally "like" too, but I do think I can come to love WoW just as I have "loved" PW..! I would archive anything I know may be worth archiving! When it comes to "playing" though, I would most certainly be seeking the most "blizzlike" experience possible, for sure! Although my friend did alert me to a P server that has a "classless" system that is some kind of combination of classes that also sounds like it could be fun, at least after I learn and experience the game in true "blizzlike" nature FIRST..!!! :)

Thank you again..!

Lets see,

for WOTLK I have:

~ Naaru's 3.3.5a Blizzlike Repack v2025.07
~ SPP Classics + PlayerBots (Vanilla + TBC + WotLK) [English]
~ AzerothCore WoTLK Repack (Playerbots + Individual Progression + 32 other modules)

for LEGION I have:

~ 7.3.5 LEGION WoW Repack - WoW Legion 7.3.5 Repack - Blizzlike & Fun
~ SPPV2 Praevous Core and Thorignir v2
~ Legion Core

Is there anything I should be adding to (or subtracting from) this list?

It's nice to meet a fellow archiver. the most blizzlike repacks are the ones that work the most and can played at the default normal level up and drop rates. Trinity core, azeroth core, mangos,
Sppv2 has content that is scripted and works like blizzard but I read it has some modules which aren't blizzlike but can be switched off maybe not all of them. Again I ask you to refer to the official disocrd as I personally test the repacks on superficial level-can connect play
and just add stuff with gm commands.

Well sppv2 and thorignir I think are thorignir recent. Legion core if you used the .exe installer from my link-it's from 2020. Now the blizzlike repack and fun I will need to add that to my collection. Well you can keep them all if you want. The can just use and share the same map, vmap files etc saving you disk space. worldserver.conf has this setting called datadir and can use relative paths.

Yep (and likewise), I will actually be upgrading my archive drives within the next year as I am running out of space! If I am not mistaken the current largest drives available to "consumers" is 36TB. I will be grabbing TWO as I maintain TWO separate archive drives (one for "media" [since media takes up so much space, especially video] and one for "software" [everything from games to OS's & everything in between])...

I do not even attempt or think of actually trying to archive "everything" (that would be nearly impossible) but in true archiver nature I do archive even things I don't necessarily/personally "like" knowing it may be of value (some day for someone) to keep archived for posterity! Perfect examples include Windows ME and Windows Vista (probably the WORST TWO versions of winblows EVER)!

Granted I am pretty sure it was not "virgin" ~ I also had a Cataclysm client (Cataclysm 4.3.4.15595 enUS (22GB FULL Client)) in my archives that I shared here when a couple people expressed interest in it since it was of larger size (so they presumed it wasn't as "raped" as some of the versions out there)...

The one thing some of my "peers" criticize about me though is the fact that I don't actually use FOUR drives (RAID)... But I am rather confident that I actually do not "have to" because granted HDD's will all eventually fail (when not if), I only really write to them once, until they're full, then every time they fill up I buy brand new and much larger drives. I then transfer everything from the "old" drives to the new drives (which still leaves PLENTY of free space) and continue the process, while the "old" drives "stack up" in a closet. So I am fairly confident in this method opposed to "having" to "rely" on RAID!!! The only "rule" I should find a way to start following would be to maybe start storing the "old" drives "OFF-SITE", rather than in a closet on-site!!!

thanks for this info it works to login to the latest client like a charm 👍
