Hey everyone!
I’m working on Project Greywatch, a custom WoW server built on a Wrath foundation with a level-60 cap, and I’m looking for people to join the invite-only alpha to just help refine and test the systems out.
Greywatch brings custom classes, racial heritages, and different character builds into Azeroth and Outland. There’s a working server, launcher, and invite-based account system, with development continuing across the classes, world, and client.
What’s different about Greywatch?
• Azeroth and Outland within a level-60 journey: Outland has been rescaled to levels 45–60, bringing its zones and adventures into the progression towards the cap.
• 3× XP as standard: Faster levelling gives you room to explore different characters and builds.
• Increased combat tuning and party-size scaling: Damage and other combat values have been increased, and the world’s combat difficulty adapts to the number of players in your party, including increased enemy damage as your group grows.
• Necromancer: Command undead, spread disease, or try the Soul healing specialisation, where damage dealt by your minions helps heal your group.
• Tinker: Firearms, rockets, explosives, deployable machinery, and rigs that support different battlefield roles.
• Apothecary: Poisons, thrown mixtures, restorative preparations, and support abilities for your group.
• Hero Classes: Prestige your existing class into a Hero Class as was initially conceptualised for Death Knight in Classic. Work includes Battlemage and Barbarian currently as Hero Classes of the Warrior & Rogue (Barbarian) and the Mage (Battlemage), with a further 8 classes planned.
• Racial heritages: Expanded character identities and appearance choices, including High Elves, with heritage-specific abilities and class presentation.
• 61 talent points at level 60: Start with two points at level 1 and gain another each level, giving you more room to experiment within the existing trees.
We’re also developing the client experience, including custom interface layouts, class artwork and spell effects, and a Dungeon Guide for encounter and loot information.
What are we looking to test?
I’d particularly appreciate people interested in character creation, levelling, trainers, talent builds, pets, and custom class abilities.
Solo players and groups are both welcome. Feedback on combat difficulty, party scaling, and the transition into Outland would be especially useful, alongside testing the custom healing and support mechanics.
You don’t need technical experience. A report explaining what you did, what happened, and what you expected is useful.
This is an early development alpha. Expect bugs, unfinished features, and balance changes. Some of the class and client work described above is still being integrated or refined, so I’ll make the available test scope clear when inviting people. Additionally, those who help out during the Alpha & Beta will enjoy rewards and such for when the server truly goes live! (such as Titles and other cosmetics)
Access is by invitation so I can bring people in gradually, respond to feedback, and fix issues between testing rounds.
