I think it's time for a dev-blog sharing what's going on behind the scenes of the Emucoach MoP repack development.
Our development might seem a little quiet from the outside right now, but behind the scenes it's anything but that. The truth is that the team is working extremely hard behind the scenes, and we currently have a: "Show, don't tell" mindset (which I then end up breaking a bit right now
We are still in the quite early phase of our new initiative, but I can reveal that it's one of the biggest initiatives we've done at Emucoach. It's still too early to release it just yet. But essentially, we have taken a step back and have been reflecting on the project, and how we can improve it. And by that, I don't mean fixing a handful of quests. I mean literally rebuilding the experience to bring it to a much closer state of being blizzlike/retail based.
Internally, we call the project "Emucoach 2026". (Original, I know). It's our initiative to rebuild the repack to bring it closer to retail-quality behavior and the concept is that we work progressively and start with all 1-85 open-world content. Essentially, the team is working on sniffing all the 1-85 content. This also means that the open world is going to feel much more alive. This includes blizzlike/retail based: Spawns, waypoints, emotes, texts, dialogues, events, interactions, fights and most importantly nearly all quests scripted to a blizzlike 96-99% point.
It's ambitious and difficult to achieve, we won't lie. And we invest a significant of time and effort into this. Right now, the team is actively working many hours every-day on top of ordinary jobs on this concept.
And finally, to express, this is a heavy project that will be improved over time and of course won't be bug-free from day one. We'll release each stage when it meets our quality standards. After open world refactoring, dungeons/raids will be the next target, etc.
Current development status (classic-cataclysm content):
- Completed all starting zones (1-10) and scripted with ~99% blizzlike:
* Human (Elwynn Forest)
* Dwarf (Dun Morogh)
* Gnome (Dun Morogh)
* Night Elf (Teldrassil)
* Draenei (Azuremyst Isle)
* Worgen (Gilneas)
* Orc (Durotar)
* Troll (Durotar)
* Tauren (Mulgore)
* Undead (Tirisfal Glades)
* Blood Elf (Eversong Woods)
* Goblin (Kezan/The Lost Isles)
In progress:
- Westfall
- Redridge Mountains
- Northern Barrens
- Ashenvale
- Silverpine Forest
- Loch Modan
- Ghostlands
- Azshara
- Badlands
We'll continue creating these Dev blogs as we progress. Likely, we'll also include videos and screenshots of our work.
Thank you to everyone who's supporting EmuCoach and help make this project possible.
