I downloaded the client but when I try to connect to the server running on my PC I receive an error:
The config file is correct, it works with the existing 32 bit client I have been using, but not with the 64 bit or 32 bit client from the link you provided:
Any ideas?

Most often, such errors indicate problems in setting up the server, not the client.
