Custom Item Display on Character Select screen but not in game

Like the title says.. I changed some Display id's on some heirloom gear and it show the new look on the Character select screen but when I go into the game itself it shows the old one. I deleted the cache files and tried to use mydbceditor to edit the dbc file but i cant find the item.dpc only finding a item.db2. Do i need some other programs to edit that file or is there something else i can do?
