Can't capture battle pets?

Can't capture battle pets?
We are running the paid version and everything is going pretty good, but when my battle pets fight a wild pet, the capture button never activates to let me try to catch it. My pets do level and can fight just this one quirk that is driving me insane. Thanks much!
